TURNING YOUR PERSONAL BRAND INTO A BUSINESS
Define your interests, hobbies, and lifestyle.
This is your brand.
Define what problems you commonly see and then create a solution.
This is your product.
Define what content people would appreciate watching and create your content strategy.
This is your content
Now you'll have:
- A unique "niche" made from your specific interests and experiences.
- A unique offer and product based off the problems you see in your industry.
- A content strategy that will has endless ideas and topics
Create content for the person you were 3 years ago.
There will be millions of other people on a similar journey with similar interests as you. When you post high quality and engaging content, they will find you.
WHAT ABOUT MY "NICHE"?
Now that you have an idea of your broad niche, you might be asking :
"I feel like my niche is too broad, theres no structure, and now I'm just overwhelmed..."
Let me answer that for you.
Your brand is broad and attracts similar people to you.
Your foundational product is specific and helps people with a problem.
Your content makes is insight to where people are along their path.
INTEREST PRIORITIES
Now that you have a general idea of all the interests, experiences, and possible problems you can solve for people just like you.
Let's make your content strategy a little more structured.
1st priority: should be the interest that you are most knowledgeable about and the one that you can monetize.
For me: that's videography and content creation
2nd priority is the interest that is some what new to you and gets you excited.
For me: that’s jiu jitsu and fitness.
3rd priority is some sort of idealogical interest that helps you develop.
For me: that's self improvement and a little bit of spirituality
These are your umbrella interests.
Add as many as you interests or hobbies as you would like under these 3 domains.
If it's an interest that you are extremely knowledgeable about, it will be of your 1st priority so you can teach people and solve problems in the market.
Examples can be:
Finance, Relationships, Business, Online Business, Fitness, Healthy and Wellness, Self Improvement and Mental Health.
If it's an interest that you're still learning, document the process and talk about it as it relates to your personality as whole. This would be your 2nd priority.
Examples can be:
Hobby planes, Jiu Jitsu, Comic Books, Fitness, Trees and Plants, Cars, Coffee. Literally anything
If it's an interest that helps you learn, improve, and helps you develop. That would fall under your 3rd priority.
Examples can be:
Physiology , Spirituality , Religion , Philosophy , Science, Military Experience, Stoicism
I've been studying this system from Dan Koe's writing, he calls it the "Domain of Mastery".
WHAT IF I'M JUST STARTING OUT?
If you are just starting out, I want you to document.
Document your journey as you learn and grow.
This is not only trendy right now but you can hit an ultra "relatable" style of content and create an engaged audience.
Why might you just be starting out?
- You are younger than 18 years old and didn’t quite have enough time to become experienced in an interest or subject.
- You decided to study or work at a job that someone else assigned to you and you neglected learning about your own personal interests.
That's it.
Most likely you already have some interests or skills that you are exceptional at.
If you started traveling in the wrong direction, one that you're not truly passionate about. You will have to to adjust course and start learning and teaching yourself about your true passions and interests.
Start learning today and document the journey.
Anyone can learn and build a world class skill within 5 years with the right strategy. Along the way you'll be able to document and start monetizing just after a few months.
We are simply solving problems and building bridges for people that are earlier along in their journey. Build the same solutions you wish you had when you were starting out.
That's all for this week. Thank you for reading.
